In METRO's August issue, we celebrate all things DIY, handmade and artisan--from clothing to coffee to jewelry and beyond. In Idea + Paper + Stapler we discuss the culture surrounding zines, those lo-fi, often Xeroxed bundles of literary goodness that are so prevalent in the Twin Cities. We've done you one better by offering up a prize pack of locally produced (as well as a few from Chicago, Milwaukee and New York) zines to add to your own collection--which you'll get another chance to beef up when Twin Cities Zinefest hits Powderhorn Park September 24.

Pictured are just a few of the gems you could win by emailing giveaways@metromag.com (with "Zines" in the subject) by 5 p.m. Monday, August 15. Not convinced yet? Here's some background on the zinesters who have so generously donated their wares:

Creative Ladies are Powerful (CLAP) is a progressive quarterly zine that celebrates women in all their various forms of creative living.
