Our Beards, Ourselves

Though national beard month already passed us in November, it’s never too late to celebrate facial hair.  That’s why the Turf Club is holding the second annual Minnesota Beard-Off this Friday, where men (and faux-bearded women) show off what they have grown on their face.  It’s hosted by Andy Sturdevant, local Twin Cities arts guru (who, of course, sports his own magnificent beard--see picture), and consists of five rounds of competition in three categories: Full Beard, Partial Beard and Freestyle. Contestants are  attempting to dethrone last year’s champion and win free tickets to Turf Club shows. Shavers can also get in on the action with a faux beard-making station. Beard-themed music and poetry (this should be interesting) will round out the evening.
